Sweet Soil Winter CSA ~ Holiday Edition

Hi folks,

We're busy busy busy this week with packing shares before the holidays and making our family plans! This Saturday is our last Sackville delivery before the holidays, so your shares are full of what will hopefully be enough delicious vegetables for your own shared family and community meals. Rutabega or "storage Turnip" are a staple in our family meals, but that might not be your story; So I've included a few recipe ideas in case you need some inspiration. The braising/salad mix is a hardy mix of greens that be cooked or eaten raw. If you are cooking these greens, they are a nice addition to stews, soups or can be lightly sauteed a added to curry dishes or omelettes .... there are lots of options!

In your shares this week:

Butternut Squash

Yellow Onions

Potatoes - Russet or Purple

Braising/ Salad Mix ~ A crunchy mix of baby Kale, Napa Cabbage & Radicchio

Greek Style Oven Roasted Rutabega ~

Turnip Puff ~

Apple & Turnip Mash ~

For full shares from Ferme L'Hirondelle ~ Herb Chimichurri & Fireweed Blossom Jelly

Delicious, bitter, healthful Radicchio going into this week's salad mix

Butternuts & Acorn Squash ready to be picked up from the field in late September

Beautiful Red Napa Cabbage growing in the field ... We finally got the spacing right this year and were able to harvest large, dense cabbages that have been keeping well in storage

Inside the Winter Kale tunnel ~ These plants have been the source of so much abundance & they'll keep on giving until the end of our Winter CSA in February
